A sizable storefront across the street from the historic Brennan Courthouse will soon be home to a new restaurant that promises a diverse menu and late-night hours.
The endeavor is simply named Cilantro, with ownership registered out of a local residential building. Several banners that adorn the property advertise a veritable kitchen sink of food options that will be available, which include Danishes, pastries, and an all-day breakfast service.
Other dishes listed on Cilantro’s storefront include a wide range of fare like black bean chili, goat cheese and fig flat breads, margarita pizza, a grilled chicken panini, a Guinness burger, clam chowder, Irish nachos, chicken wings, and poutine.
Cilantro is apparently aiming to be a late-night food spot for the area, as signage on the door indicates that they are planning to be open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week.
This stretch of Newark Avenue had a pretty significant culinary rebirth going before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, welcoming varied restaurants like MezCal Kitchen, Banana King, Ling Long Xuan, Café Peanut, and Freetown Road over the span of about two years. The direct vicinity is also home to a significant amount of construction that includes the Frank J. Guarini Justice Complex and a 300-unit residential project at 32 Oakland Avenue.
