The Hudson House Collection in Jersey City is adding another major fitness concept to its retail lineup. RXR, the lead developer behind the 829-unit, three-building Hudson House community, announced that CULTR Athletic Club will take 12,000 square feet on the ground floor of Radio Lofts at 316 15th Street. The new club is expected to open in early 2027 and will bring a full gym, boutique-style group classes, an extensive recovery suite, and a café all under one roof.
An Expansion, Not a New Brand
CULTR is already a familiar name at Hudson House. Founder Richie Van Houten opened the original CULTR Fight Club at Hudson House East back in 2023, building a following around boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and other martial arts training. That location will stay open and keep operating as it has, while the new CULTR Athletic Club becomes a second, larger concept aimed at a broader segment of the neighborhood.
Van Houten, a New Jersey native and former undefeated professional MMA fighter with a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, has spent more than a decade in the fitness and martial arts world. He has described the new club as a chance to bring something the neighborhood does not really have yet, a space that combines serious training and group fitness with genuine recovery amenities, all built around the sense of community CULTR has cultivated since it first opened at Hudson House.
What CULTR Athletic Club Will Offer
The new location is designed to sit between a boutique fitness studio and a traditional full-service gym. About 6,000 square feet will be dedicated to open gym and training space with high-end equipment, along with strength training, HIIT, yoga, mat Pilates, and other group classes. A separate 3,500 square foot wellness and recovery area will include a 50-person sauna, a 20-person steam room, a hot pool, and a cold plunge. The club will also have a dedicated infrared hot yoga and Pilates studio, along with a café serving coffee, protein drinks, and smoothies from a corner retail space with large windows and strong street presence.
RXR has framed the addition as part of a broader vision for the Hudson House Collection, one that pairs new residential towers with retail and wellness concepts that give both residents and the surrounding neighborhood a reason to spend time on site rather than just pass through it.
Why This Matters for SoHo West Retail
This expansion is one more data point in a neighborhood that has been building momentum for a while now. Hudson House sits inside Jersey City’s SoHo West district, the same growing corridor where GRID Commercial Real Estate is the exclusive retail leasing agent for the 315 15th Street property within the Hudson House Lofts District. A second CULTR concept committing to 12,000 square feet, on top of an already established fitness following at Hudson House East, is a strong signal that operators see real staying power in this part of Jersey City.
