The Details
After Shaka Kitchen closed at its location at 110 Washington Street (still open in Hoboken, though, in the Monroe Center!), the space has been vacant for a few months. However, all clues lead to Maman, a cafe based in New York City, coming to the space. Some Hoboken Girl readers have reached out to our team regarding packages under the business’s name appearing at the Washington Street location, creating speculation that a move into the storefront will be happening soon. This would be the second Maman location in New Jersey, with the first opening in Jersey City in 2022. The cafe, described as a “Soho loft cafe”, was originally opened in 2014 by Benjamin Sormonte + Elisa Marshall. It became a local favorite for residents and quickly expanded throughout the United States, with other locations in Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Fairfax, and more.
