A mixed-use rental development rising on Jersey City’s West Side has signed its first retail tenant.
Square Market will open a 1,500-square-foot convenience store at West Side Square, a 477-unit residential and retail complex at 1075 West Side Ave. in the city’s Marion neighborhood, developers announced June 18.
The store will sell everyday essentials, offering a convenience-focused retail option for the growing community.
An opening date has not yet been announced.
The project is being developed by West Side Square Development Fund, a partnership that includes Lanterra Developments, Westdale Properties, Lantree Developments and Altree Developments.
“We have always envisioned West Side Square to be much more than just a place to start and end the day,” said Raphael Mandelbaum, principal at Lantree Developments.
Square Market’s lease was brokered by Bobby Antonicello Jr. of GRID Commercial Real Estate Advisors, who represented both the landlord and the tenant.
Dixit Patel of Square Market said the store will focus on convenience for nearby residents.
The addition of Square Market is part of a broader retail strategy aimed at turning the development into a hub for daily needs in a neighborhood.
West Side Square is expected to begin welcoming residents in August.
The development offers studio to three-bedroom apartments, as well as townhome-style units.
Amenities are set to include a rooftop pool, fitness center, yoga room, pet-friendly spaces and 24-hour doorman service.
The property will be managed and leased by Greystar.
More retail space — ranging from roughly 815 to 5,500 square feet — remains available at the development, with additional tenants expected to be announced in the coming months.
